"Road Traffic Offending – Business and Motoring Insurance” Officers from the Clackmannanshire Community Policing Team routinely patrol local roads across the county. Community officers would like to highlight some incidents involving business certifications and motoring insurance and provide the following comment:
On 17th July 2025, local officers have stopped a driver of a vehicle who was driving with no valid motoring insurance certification. On further investigation, it has been established, through a search and observation of the contents of the vehicle, that this individual was operating as a delivery driver, with various takeaway company bags within the rear of the vehicle, with no valid business insurance on his policy, nor was this covered by the employer of said employee. As a result on conclusion of enquiries, this vehicle was seized by Police and the subject was provided with a fixed penalty ticket for these offences. Relevant advice was also provided to the company in question.
On 11th August 2025, local officers in conjunction with Road Traffic colleagues have stopped a vehicle which had no valid insurance certifications in place. In addition, this driver and vehicle were actively delivering food orders in the local community. The individual did not have valid motoring insurance certification and business insurance, as such the vehicle was seized and the driver reported for relevant offences to the Procurator Fiscal.
On 8th September 2025, local officers observed a motor vehicle driving in their area and had identified the driver to be a disqualified driver. The subject was stopped later thereafter and this was found to be the case. He also failed the roadside drug wipe. The individual was arrested and a report submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The vehicle was seized by Police.
Constable Kouassi, Clackmannanshire Community Policing : “Police Service of Scotland routinely and pro-actively conduct both static and mobile vehicle checks, utilising a variety of equipment to ensure our Roads are safe. Both businesses and employees who are working in a capacity as a delivery service / driver must ensure they have the correct and sufficient certification of business insurance on their insurance policies. Without such coverage, this can cause both financial and legal issues, should an incident occur on the roadway involving said driver and both could face potential further legal proceedings / prosecution.”
Police Service of Scotland would encourage all residents and members to report any Road Traffic concerns or vehicles of concern within your areas, to the DVLA, local authority, Police Service of Scotland, or your local Community Officer, which you can do via the below emails:
